Director, Legal

What we’re looking for:

The Director, Legal will be responsible for managing & administrating the legal documentation for Superfly, its festival properties & agency clients for a broad range of commercial transactions. Types of agreements include, without limitation, venue agreements, vendor agreements, sponsorship agreements, artist agreements and licensing agreements. General knowledge of trademark, corporate and employment law also ideal. Director, Legal will report to both the President, Corporate Development and the President, Experience.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Oversee contract management and administer legal documentation
  • Coordinate legal contracting process with appropriate outside counsel
  • Responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts related to vendors, artists, sponsorship clients employees and business partnerships
  • Manage various projects and deadlines and provide support to the President, Corporate Development as needed
  • Advise executives on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various deals
  • Keep current on legislative and regulatory changes that may affect the company and its affiliates
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
  • Provide training to company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics
  • Oversee insurance contract compliance and vet and interface with the insurance agent
  • Oversee business licenses, permits and registrations
  • Manage organization and filing of contracts
  • Update, form and organize corporate entities

Your experience:

  • ​Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • 3-5 years experience as a practicing entertainment or corporate lawyer within media or entertainment, additional knowledge in trademark and employment ideal

Your Strengths include:

  • Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, marketing/advertising law, labor law, IP, litigation, etc.)
  • Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Advanced experience with Word and Google Apps for business a plus
